ABOUT US

We design the learning systems that make training perform as a business function.

We centralize learning in systems built on the science of how people learn. Teams reach the training their roles require, leaders see how capability develops across the organization, and the system produces the evidence that ties learning to business outcomes."

Team Meeting Interaction

Mission: We work toward a world where organizations treat learning as core business infrastructure and hold the development of their people to the same standard of evidence and accountability they apply to any other business function

Vision: We partner with organizations to diagnose, design, and govern the learning systems their people and their business depend on, built on the science of how people learn and the realities of how their organization operates, so training produces capability the business can measure.

Meet the Team

Vanorsdale Learning Lab was built on the argument that learning performs as a business function only when the science behind it, the design that carries it, and the discipline that delivers it are held together in one system, which is why we assembled a team to cover all three and operate as a single integrated practice.

Our Founder

Engineering Learning that Transforms

I'm Dr. Christie Vanorsdale, Ed.D., a multimedia learning scientist and the founder of Vanorsdale Learning Lab. For more than fifteen years I've worked at the intersection of learning science and organizational practice, helping organizations build learning systems that perform as a business function.

I came to this work through psychology, a master's in international education and teaching English as a second language, and years of training teachers in the United States and abroad, before earning a doctorate in instructional technology focused on the cognitive theory of multimedia learning.

After years in academia, I moved into organizational learning, where I build learning structures across departments, bridge the people who request training and those who depend on its results, and show organizations the return on what they invest in their people.

I've built learning in every modality, from instructor-led training to large-scale open courses to learning management systems built from the ground up, across education, government, nonprofit, and corporate organizations.

A client success story

Watch our conversation with Kristi Stringer, Director of Product Development at The Great Game of Business, on what it's like to work with us. We took her team through our full process — discovery, design, and implementation — to build the learning experience behind their platform. In discovery, we developed five learning personas and a ten-competency framework, then mapped their existing content against both in a complete matrix that flagged exactly where new content needed to be created. We designed the LMS user experience end to end so the platform could deliver the personalized experience their users said they wanted most. And we built the structure to tag and track learner development inside and outside the LMS, so they could show a return on investment to the stakeholders who fund the platform to upskill their people.
